Features to know about

Built for Heavy E-Bikes: 80 lb Capacity per Bike

E-bikes weigh more, but that’s no problem here. The Sport Rider SE handles two electric bikes up to 80 lbs per bike with confidence. It supports tires up to 5.0" wide and wheelbases up to 60", giving you room for fat tires, long frames, heavy builds, and 20" wheel bikes when used with the included SW-ADP-U adapter. The steel platform and heavy-duty wheel holders keep every setup secure mile after mile.

Solid Hold, No Sway: Padded Frame Hooks and Anti-Rattle Design

Bikes stay rock-steady thanks to padded, ratcheting frame hooks that clamp down without scratching paint. Each hook moves independently to fit different bike sizes and shapes. An integrated anti-rattle handle locks the rack tight in the hitch - no tools needed - so there’s no wobble or sway even over bumpy roads.

Easy Access and Storage: Tilts Down, Folds Up

Grabbing gear from the back shouldn’t mean unloading bikes. This rack tilts down with both bikes still on, giving quick cargo access. When the ride’s done, it folds up flat against your vehicle for a smaller footprint. The 7" shank rise helps clear low points, and at 54 lbs, it’s sturdy yet manageable to handle or store.

Complete Built-In Security: Locks for Bikes and Rack

Everything stays protected with keyed-alike locks. The hitch lock secures the rack, while locking frame hooks and an 8' security cable keep your bikes safe. With one key set for all locks, you get simple, complete protection for both rack and bikes.

Tool-Free Setup: Quick Alignment with Welded Stop Plate

Setup is straightforward. Slide the shank into the 2" hitch receiver until the welded stop plate aligns the pin holes - no need to get on your hands and knees. Tighten it down with the built-in handle for a firm, rattle-free fit. You’re ready to load up and roll without extra tools or hardware.

Easy to put together. No problem handling the bikes. Looking forward to travelling with the bikes. This rack is very well built with lots of features. I really like the no rattle function which really works, easy to tilt to access hatch,Great service from etrailer. Kept us updated on delivery and shipping. Website made assembly easy. Will certainly purchase from them again.

The bike rack is strong but has a problem with one bike aboard. It seems that the pins that secure the bike rack in place will disengage when a bump is hit. The bike rack will then fold back to the stowed position. This happened to me three times while on the freeway. In order to continue our trip we had to drill an additional 1/2' hole and install a pin to secure the rack from folding up. Just a poor design. Since I added the pis, I have not had this problem happen again.

Bought this rack to haul my new electric bike which required a rack that could hold the extra weight. It was easy to put together. It is heavier than regular bike rack, but I manage and I a woman in my early 60’s. I really love the way my bike sits on rack. I used it all last summer and had no issues. If you have an electric bike, this is rack for you. I bought the adapter for securing a woman’s bike but I didn’t end up using it much. I use old riding gloves where the holding post meets the bike to keep from scratching bike.

I've had a competitor rack for several years, but wasn't able to use it for my Lectic Bike purchased last year. Folding the bike up and putting in a tote in the back of my truck was less than ideal. After quite a bit of research came across the Hollywood Racks. Assembly and then adjustment for both my Lectric and my wife's Specilized Hybrid very straight forward. More than pleased.Bonus was that etrailer.com carried the rack with as usual quick shipping, competitive pricing and attention to the customer that I've come to expect.

Nice package. We have yet to put on our bikes, so we don't know how it will fit. The package got here quickly and everything was there, including tools, which came in handy. It was pretty easy to set up, using the instructions and videos on your website.

by:

I have a Dirty Sixer 36" wheel bike and my wife has an electric bike. This rack handles them both very easy. This is one of the only bikes racks the 36er will fit on. We are extremely happy with the purchase and will more than likely be purchasing another one in the near future. Assembly was very easy!!

by:

The Hollywood Sports Ride SE Bike Rack was easy to assemble. Although it was heavier than I excepted. But I then realized that it was going to support 130 pounds of e-bikes. My wife assists me in installing the bike rack on the car as it is easier for two people. I also installed the Small wheel hoop adapters, which raises the rear wheel and protects the derailers. After my first trip with the e-bikes, I am very pleased with the ease of getting the bikes on and off of the bike rack. I would definitely this rack again.

by:

We are very pleased with our choice of the Hollywood bike rack. It is very sturdy and well built. The bikes do not move while traveling.
When the bikes are removed, the rack can be folded up out of the way while the vehicle is parked.
Our truck is a 2012 Tacoma with a ARE truck cap. The cap can also be accessed with the rack and bikes in place.
We would recommend this rack to others.

After a year and several long trips, this rack for eBikes is exactly what is needed. Although it’s heavy, so are the bikes. Properly mounted it’s a sturdy and secure solution. If you’re smaller or older, it might be wise to use two people to mount it to a hitch. Storing it is a pain in the !@#$. But I wouldn’t buy any other rack for heavy eBikes.

by:

First let me clarify this review is for the rack mounted to a 2019 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited. I bought the rack to carry two step-through ebikes, both are identical. The rack went together fairly easily, follow the instructions carefully. I did not measure the time as it was over 90 degrees in my garage and at 73 I took frequent breaks. The rack is VERY heavy as it mist carry bikes up to 80 lbs each. There is not much clearance between to rack and the spare tire on the Jeep. The first 2 photos photos will show you and I became a little worried immediately upon seeing that. After building the rest of the rack, I mounted it into the hitch tube. All looks good from the photos, but now the problem arises. According to the website, this rack is supposed to fit and function for my Jeep. I tried to fold the rack into the storage position and that does not work. The Jeep spare interferes with folding as you can see from. the next photos. In addition, I tried the tilt function. According to the website, the rack tilts down allowing access to the cargo area. As you can see from the photos, the spare tire again impacts the rack and the cargo area cannot be accessed. I have to remove the entire rack to access the cargo area. Luckily I can access it from the side doors if really needed. Two more photos showing the rack ready for use and with one of the ebikes mounted. Be careful mounting, pay close attention to both he pedals and kickstand. In my experiments, I found the bike closest to the car should be mounted with the handlebars on the passenger side. It was also difficult to get the wheel supports to adjust with the weight of the bike. The last problem occured after mounting both bikes. The frame hook for the 2nd bike does NOT extend low enough to engage the bike. There is a couple inch space above the adapter bar. Based on strength and construction, a very good rack, however, the inability to properly fold and tilt on my Jeep and the lack of tight fitting frame hooks lowers the overall rating. If you have a Jeep with full size mounted spare, look at another option.

by:

We just completed an 8K mile RV trip with the Hollywood rack mounted on our rear hitch. We have 2 Lectric e-bikes, we purchased this rack because it was rated for the combined weight of our bikes. The rack performed perfectly! We were able to easily load and unload the bikes and the rack held up very well. While the photo doesn't highlight the rack, it does show the use of my etrailer adapter to support the Hollywood rack and our tow vehicle. The rack is nicely out of the way of the tow vehicle and has plenty of clearance from the airflow at the back of the RV.

by:

Amazingly great customer service, thanks Brandon! Once I have it installed I’ll attach some photos with our new e-bikes.

2006 Saturn Vue with 2" hitch

When
I bought the rack in December 2019 there was no Fat Tire specific rack like I see now, so I bought the HR1450 and two fat tire adapters. Still a great value. I had no problem assembling it.

It took me a bit to figure out the best positioning of the wheel racks that works best. If you have to have the two adjustment knobs on the left or right sides for both bikes near each other, it can make it very hard to turn them, so place them accordingly..
I added some pipe padding to my clamps.

Don't push the clamps down too hard. It can make removal very difficult. The instructions tell you NOT to push down hard but you feel like you have to. I now push them down until they stop, no further. The bikes may not be ROCK stable like this but I have gone on 400 mile mountain drives to Lake Tahoe and back with no issues. The guy in the video actually does it about right if not TOO tight for my liking.

Our bikes have a sloped frame. I initally was worrried that the clamp wouldnt grip and but an adapter but it was kinda loose and I didnt think it was very secure. I returned it.
I have no issue with our bike frames in the photo.

The keyed alike pin lock and clamp locks are nice, The anti-rattle feature is great.
You can actually tilt it down two stops so it makes getting these heavy bikes on and off really easy.
I am just now posting this review after having gone on 4 long trips and 2 short ones with the rack and our 2 Bikes. It works great. etrailer was great about price matching and shipping.

Very sturdy and well designed. Simple assembly with good instructions. Also very fast delivery.

Great rack. Holds our ebikes securely no matter what the road conditions are.
Easy to lift up into a traveling position when not in use.

by:

This bike rack works great for our 2 Lectric 2.0 e-bikes. We mount it on our 2019 Honda Ridgeline. It folds up nicely when it’s on the truck and we are using our bikes. The locking mechanisms work well also. I contacted support for a smaller hook arm to clamp B over the bike frame. They knew exactly what I needed and shipped it - no problem.

We still love our Hollywood Rack!! Works great and we’ve been leaving it on the truck in its stored position. No problems at all 1 yr later.

by:

I was surprised with how soon the rack arrived after I ordered it. Odelia was very helpful in placing my order and followed up with a couple of emails.
The rack was packaged very nicely. Assembly was easy. My only nit was labeling of the front & back of the rack in the instructions was confusing. The back of the rack should be farthest from the vehicle and the front closest to the vehicle. Otherwise the assembly instructions were clear and assembly was smooth. I’m using this rack with a 41 pound e-bike.
I’ve driven it around the neighborhood and I can’t wait until the COVID emergency is over to take a road trip with my bike using the rack.

It’s still great! And it’s easy to lock down the bike. One hint is to lock the arm that holds the frame do if you go over a bump, it doesn’t loosen up.

This is there perfect rack for our two fat tire e-Bikes. Assembly was extremely easy, and the quality of this rack is excellent. I highly recommend this rack for fat tire e-bikes!

This rack is still in great shape after a year. It has held up well through constant use and many rain storms. No rust to be found anywhere!

by:

THIS RACK SAVED OUR e-BIKES FROM GETTING STOLEN!
The would-be thieves cut the cable that I used to secure the bikes together but they couldn't release the locking hooks on the bike rack to be able to remove the bikes. The straps holding the wheels to the brackets were cut, but they really aren't necessary for holding the bikes on the rack anyway.
This rack is so simple to use and has performed flawlessly every time.
We've used it on quite a few trips, one of them was over 5800 miles in 3 weeks! 100% worth the price!

Absolute sturdy, easy to assemble, and all parts work perfectly. Will be taking it on a trip to MT and WY with my Aventure and Pace Aventon bikes - I live in the Midwest so I’ll post how well this does when I get back. We are doing the Turkey Tour and I’ll be riding and hunting with Greg from THP.

Looks great on the back of your black Chevy Jim! Enjoy your trip, may your morning start with gobbles and end with a monster fan =) I might have a pretty good one on the wall in my basement.

This rack is heavy, easy to assemble and has zero wobble. The reason I purchased this rack was due to the quality of the rack, but also my last experience with trailer. Great customer service, and if you have a question, it's pretty easy to get hold of a real person!
I actually purchased this for an Ebike.

Excellent bike rack. Easy to put together. Fits perfect with the etrailer curt hitch. This is a heavy duty bike rack, which also means it heavy but still manageable. Using this for my Aventon Ebike.

No issues. Easy to set up and carries the heavy e-bike with ease. Takes about 5 minutes to load and secure the bike.

by:

Let’s be honest. Nobody gets it right all the time. That being said, once again etrailer EXCEEDED my expectations. From navigating their website to receiving the rack, the experience was flawless. With a company this large, I would expect a hiccup from time to time but having done business with them for years and ordering numerous products, their service has always been great. The rack is well made. Assembly was a breeze and took about 15 mins. Excellent product Keep up the good work.

by:

It's SOLID. It went together relatively easily, all the parts were included, and once we put the two 80 lb bikes on, it still felt solid and secure. Great product. (I also bought the braces for our step-through bikes, and they're great!) Also, etrailer.com chat/email customer service are fantastic! 10/10

by:

Wow. This is a really well thought out rack. As I was assembling it I realized the small things they did to make it easier. An example is using carriage bolts for the arms instead of traditional bolts. It eliminates the need for a second wrench and it also makes it obvious which way they want to install the bolts (nuts down). While this might not mean much or seem like common sense to a lot of folks, I have put together enough things to know it isn't.

One thing to verify is that you're using the "snapper pin" as they call it in the instructions. It is the pin that goes all the way through in the back and keeps the rack from tipping down. I trusted the "front spring pin" a couple of times in assembly without the snapper pin and the rack tilted unexpectedly. It takes both for the rack to work correctly. And on the tip, I am very happy with the clearance of the handlebars and the tailgate opening. My handlebars are 27" across and when mounted the tip of the handlebar grip is about 29" from the rear window. When tipped, the tailgate is still three or four inches away.

I like the fact the rack is "transparent" when folded up to allow the tail lights and license plate to be seen. I looked at the 1up heavy duty, but it was quite a bit more in price and also substantially blocked the tail lights and license plate with the cars I would be using it on when it was folded up. I usually have the rack on a 2015 Subaru Forester and my bike is an Aventon Level 3. It weighs in at 67 pounds. With the battery out it is just under 59 pounds. This was one of the few racks that was rated for the weight and was by far one of the most affordable.

Overall, this seems to be a really superior design at an affordable price. And etrailer had a solid review showing the tilting and different features. This was around my 10th “major” purchase from them and I have been very please with their service and performance every time.

  • Can the Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE Bike Rack Be Used with Step Through Bikes
We have a solution for you either way but the Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE Bike Rack # HLY84FR may or may not work with your particular step through bikes. There are different styles of step through bikes and depending on how low the step through is, the ratcheting arm on the Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE Bike Rack # HLY84FR may go down low enough to secure the bike or it may be a little short. However, if the ratcheting arm does not go down low enough on your particular bike we do...

The Rockymounts rack you mentioned is a wheel mount rack, so not good for bikes with fenders since the ratcheting hooks need to mount to the tire, and the fender gets in the way. You will want a frame-mount rack instead. Here is what I recommend: - Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE Bike Rack for 2 Electric Bikes - 2" Hitches - Frame Mount # HLY84FR - Saris Swing Away Hitch Extender for Bike Racks - 2" Hitches...

  • Difference Between Hollywood Racks # HR1450Z and # HLY84FR Bike Racks
The Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE2 # HR1450Z that you currently have and the SE2 # HR1450E that you referenced are essentially the same bike rack with one major difference. Your existing SE2 rack is a great carrier that features a weight capacity of 50 pounds per bike, which is really quite robust for a standard platform rack. The SE # HLY84FR on the other hand is specifically designed for electric bikes, which can get pretty heavy. This particular model rack can secure two bikes that...

  • Bike Rack for 2 Lectric XP 3.0 Bikes on 2019 Winnebago Intent Model 29L Towing 2019 Chevy Equinox
Hi Edward; for a bike rack I recommend the 2019 Winnebago Intent Model 29L # HLY84FR. This is rated for motorhome use and has a capacity of 80 lbs per bike. From the center of the hitch pin hole to the farthest part of the rack is 27-1/2" so you can use that to get a good idea if clearance will be an issue. That distance is as good as it gets for a bike rack that can handle your 65 lb Lectric bikes. We don't have an exact way to know if anything will hit on tight turns so the best thing...

  • Adapter for low Step-Through Frame E-Bike to fit Bike Rack
The perfect solution for you to carry your EVELO Luna with the Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE 2-Bike Carrier for Electric Bicycles # HLY84FR would be to use an adapter bar which attaches between your seat post and handlebar stem to create a horizontal mounting point. You can see exactly what it does in the photo I've attached for you. The bar you want is going to depend on the length between your seat post and handlebar stem; the Swagman Deluxe # 64005 is adjustable from 24 3/8" to 33...

  • Saris Platform Bike Rack for Carrying Hybrid Giant Bikes with Water Bottle Holders
I looked up several pictures of Hybrid Giant bikes like you have and the ones with lower water bottle locations would interfere with the frame clamps of the Saris Freedom 2 Bike Platform Rack # SA4412B most likely so the Saris platform bike rack I would recommend instead is the SuperClamp EX 2 part # SA4025F which grabs the bikes by the tires instead which would definitely not interfere with the water bottle holder and also would prevent the rack from touching your frame which would protect...

  • Availability of Bike Rack for 85 lb E-Bikes
Hey Mike! The wheelbase varies from bike rack to bike rack. The only rack that can hold that much weight is the Saris MHS DUO # SAR73MR with a capacity of 100 lbs per bike. However, the max wheelbase on this rack is 53" so you're just a little too long. If you can pull batteries off of those then you can use the Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE # HLY84FR. This bike rack can hold 80 lbs per bike and works with a wheelbase up to 60" so yours won't be a problem. What kind of e-bikes do you have?
